Origin Agritech Says Its Genetically Modified Phytase Corn to Be Marketed Late This Year
NEW YORK (AP) -- Origin Agritech Ltd., which makes genetically modified corns, said Monday it expects to start selling by late this year a corn seed that includes an animal food additive.
The company said the market for phytase corn is worth about $500 million worldwide. Marketing is expected to begin in late 2008.
Shares rose 21 cents, or 4.6 percent, to $4.80 in morning trading.
